Paterson College was founded in 1991 by a committee of people from the local community in response to demand for a co-educational, independent school that would offer value-added education at the northern end of the Gold Coast. As an independent school not linked to any system or religion, the College has the ability to respond readily to the individual needs of students and its community. The Australian International Islamic College opened in 2002 at the Buranda Campus with 20 students from years 1, 2 and 3 under the name of Brisbane Muslim School. In the second year of operation the school was extended from preschool to Year 5 with 60 students at the Brisbane Muslim School at Agnes Street, Buranda. In response to the high growth of enrolments a new campus was established in 2005 at Durack. The Durack campus is built on 30 acres of land which allows us to build classroom buildings well away from the hustle and bustle of roads. The opening of a second permanent classroom building gives the campus two modern wings one for Primary and one for Secondary. The Australian International Islamic College opened its Gold Coast Campus in January 2010 at 19 Chisholm Road, Carrara on a 10 acre site in order to serve the Gold Coast Community.
