Kritesh is from India, studying a Master of Information Technology at James Cook University in Brisbane. He was part of the Queensland International Student Advisory Panel in 2018 and is motivated to once again be involved in communication that benefits international students in Queensland.
Kritesh is passionate about communicating the needs, concerns and appreciations of other students. As President of the Student Association of James Cook University, Kritesh supports his student peers by networking with them through formal and informal events to identify issues and concerns, and communicate these through the appropriate channels for resolution.
Workplace exploitation is an issue that Kritesh would like to see addressed, with some international students disclosing that they are underpaid. He would like to see an increase in random audits on employers.
Kritesh chose Queensland because of the climate and the travel opportunities. He feels that Brisbane offers a culturally diverse community and his advice to other students is to remember to make the most of their study abroad experience as it will be over before they know it!
