Maria is from Colombia and is studying a Certificate III in Leadership at ASL in Brisbane. She has previously completed an English for Academic Purpose (EAP I & II).
Maria is excited to be part of the Queensland Student Advisory Panel and feels it’s a great opportunity to increase her skills. She will use her past experience as an English student and now as a future master's student to advocate for support and make visible the actions for international students. Maria is keen to provide useful guidelines for those who need more support, especially in higher education by sharing her own experience and giving new students a warm welcome to discover the 'sunshine state'.
One of the main motivations Maria choose Queensland was its natural diversity and Brisbane is one of the most accessible cities for Latin American students. There were also other factors that influenced her decision including cost of living, weather conditions being very pleasant, and its natural wealth.
