Student Support

Queensland offers a range of resources including the Queensland student hub network, an international student hotline and student support staff dedicated to supporting and encouraging students.





The Queensland Student Hub is now online!

Students can now book virtual appointments with student support officers through the Queensland Student Hub.

The wider Queensland Student Hub Network has also transitioned to a virtual format with the Brisbane, Cairns and Gold Coast Student Hubs offering virtual support, events and activities - check the online operating hours of the hubs below.





Step 1: Check your eligibility

Queensland Student Hub users must be:

  • over the age of 18 years

  • be either currently enrolled or previously enrolled (with enrolment ceasing due to provider shut down as a consequence of COVID-19) at a CRICOS registered provider in Queensland


Step 2: Complete a short enrolment process

To access the Queensland Student Hub, students are required to provide some personal details as part of a short enrolment process. 


Step 3: Select a support service

The Queensland Student Hub offers both a ‘General Q&A chat’ and appointments with ‘Student Support Officers’ depending on your requirements.

Student support officers will work with students to identify support options. Students who have been assessed as being in significant hardship by the student support officers may be eligible for further assistance including financial support.


Financial support

Financial support is available for international students experiencing hardship as a result of being adversely impacted by the economic effects of COVID-19. Student support officers will make decisions in relation to support requirements for each student. In order to obtain financial support, students may be required to present the below documentation:

  • identification: driver's license, Medicare card or passport

  • valid student ID or confirmation of enrolment

  • a copy of their OSHC

  • a copy of their current student visa

  • a copy of their rental agreement

  • proof of utility bills: internet, electricity, mobile phone etc.

  • bank account statements

  • proof of employment

  • evidence of being unemployed or a reduction of usual work hours due to COVID-19

  • any other documents that evidence students requiring support

You can now book appointments with a Student Support Officer online. Your appointment can be held via the online chat, phone or video call – whichever option you are most comfortable with.


Out of hours student support

For support outside of 10am-4pm Monday to Friday, please call 1800QSTUDY, or for mental health support please call Lifeline on 13 11 14. Both hotlines offer 24/7 phone support.

The service supports students, agents, chaperones, parents and homestay providers with 24/7 phone support and general enquires regarding studying in Queensland. Please note, 1800QSTUDY is not an emergency service number. In an emergency, please dial Triple Zero (000) and ask for police, fire or ambulance.
